Last summer my father moved to the Sunrise Senior Living community in Alexandria. We now visit him there often and frequently bring our 9-year-old Lab mix Guinness along. While not officially a therapy dog, Guinness' naturally happy and friendly temperament brings a welcome joy and comfort to my father, as well as many of the other residents she meets when visiting. Here Guinness enjoys relaxing with 86-year-old Chalmers Marquis in his room. — Brian Marquis
