Shep Saltzman’s topic for his Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF) presentation May 19 was Thyroid Function but his bottom line was, “You can’t cookie cutter people. You have to get to know them because everyone is different and what works for one person doesn’t work for another. There are so many patterns; it takes finesse to figure it out. I am very thorough.”
In addition to discussion about thyroid function, there was an extended question and answer session about iodine deficiency.
Saltzman has been a registered nurse since 1973. He is a licensed acupuncturist, certified Chinese herbalist and became a family nurse practitioner with a Master’s Degree in 2022.
The group attending the discussion were members of local chapters of the Weston A. Price Foundation. Audrey sits by the front door greeting visitors despite spending almost two hours in urgent care that morning after breaking her arm, she said. “Couldn’t miss this.”
Hilda Gore runs Wise Traditions, the WAPF international weekly Monday podcast.
“We’re in the top 100 in health and nutrition podcasts on Apple,” Gore said. “I have been doing a series on cholesterol. Tomorrow’s session is Nurturing Our Sons.”
Alana Sugar, co-leader of the Alexandria chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation and a nutritionist, shared her own journey to find worked for her particular body.
Janice Curtin, who is Alexandria WAPF chapter leader says, “The Foundation is dedicated to restoring nutrient dense foods to the American diet through education, research, and activism. … There are many popular diets today, but on this diet you can eat all traditional nutrient dense foods, properly prepared.”
